Plastic pallets and trays constructed from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and Polypropylene (PP) are ideal for recycling.

 

HDPE and PP can both be readily recycled to make new plastic products. It has the benefit of the original materials but also producing so at a lower cost and reduced energy usage.

 

Recycling Plastics Helps Sustainability

The recycling of plastics fits into the current EC Waste Framework, which aims to improve efficiency and sustainability of the reuse of material resources and is now protected by law as part of the Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC.

 

Using plastic pallets and trays meets standards outlined within in the Waste Framework Hierarchy. Level one: plastic pallets are longer lasting and can be reused. Level two: plastic pallets are easily cleaned or heat-sterilised and so less likely for contamination.

 

Level three: Easily Recyclable, plastic pallets and trays can be ground into pellets and then reformed into new plastic products. This is why plastics represent a valuable stream of reusable waste. Recycling conserves valuable resources and reduces the energy needed for plastic production.
